Yes. Carteret requires a zoning permit to build, repair, replace or alter a fence 6 feet or under.
Up to 4 feet in the front yard (no more than 50% solid) and up to 6 feet in side and rear yards.
Wood, wire of No. 11 gauge or heavier, brick, stone, vinyl, masonry and aluminum. Barbed wire (in residential zones), electric fences, spikes, canvas, cloth and poultry netting are not allowed.
